Bellator 173 Fights
Bellator 173 will take place on February 24, 2017 at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. This time, the promo heads to the Northern Irish capital, 2 months after Bellator 169 went down in the Republic of Ireland.
Liam McGeary will go back to action considering that being dismissed by Phil Davis at Bellator 163. The Norfolk native lost not just the Bellator light-heavyweight title but also, his undefeated status to Davis. McGeary was originally slated to deal with Chris Fields, however an injury to the SBG Ireland fighter saw him switch with Vladimir Filipovic. Two days prior to the fight, the challenger altered once again, this time Brett McDermott, returning from brief retirement.
Former Bellator light heavyweight champ Liam McGeary has a new opponent for the centerpiece of Bellator 173 on Friday. Again.
Just 48 hours earlier, Chris Fields left of the fight in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and was replaced by Vladimir Filipovic.
On Wednesday, however, it was announced Filipovic, a native of Serbia, was out due to visa concerns. So Brett McDermott will take his location in the primary occasion. SevereMMA.com initially reported the news.
McDermott (7-4) will be making his Bellator launching. 6 of his 7 career triumphes are via knockout, with his most noteworthy win a finish of Bellator vet Oli Thompson.
McGeary (11-1), also a Brit, has 10 blockages amongst his 11 career wins. He’s looking to get back on track after dropping the title to Phil Davis in November.
